The Information Technology Department (DIT) of IOM is dedicated to supporting the institute’s academic, administrative, and digital infrastructure needs through reliable and innovative technology solutions. The department manages network services, software systems, website and digital platforms, cybersecurity, and technical support to ensure efficient and secure operations across the institution. It also plays a vital role in promoting digital transformation, e-learning, and the effective use of information technology in medical education, research, and healthcare services.

- Program Administration: The system tracks data for over 63 different academic programs ranging from undergraduate degrees (e.g., MBBS, BPH) to postgraduate and super-specialty (DM/MCh) levels.
- Information & Technology Oversight: The IOM Department of Information and Technology maintains the infrastructure, managing the digital portals that facilitate communication between the Dean’s Office and various departments.
- Research and Faculty Management: Digital modules assist the Research Department in coordinating institutional review committee (IRC) activities and managing online forms for research officers and faculty post-verification.
- Institutional Support: The system integrates administrative functions for constituent campuses like Maharajgunj Medical Campus (MMC), including issuing Student ID cards and managing library resources.
Since its inception in 30 January, 2009 (2065/10/17), The IOM-DIT has been striving to provide quality internet service and IT related technical support in our institute.
It started with providing good quality internet service at the institution when the internet service providers in the country were few and expensive. During its initial years, there were only 100-150 users, and later it increased to more than 1000 during its peak internet service.
Its focus in recent times has been to improve and modernize the networking and internet services in the Institute of Medicine, Dean Office and to increase the efficiency of service and communication by updating the website. Recently, the website has been updated with improved technology, platform, and accessibility.
We are also introducing few course under the "Digital Literacy for Clinicians' DLC. The first Mosule will focus on AI and its applications in clinics and academics. The second Module will be on Digital Photography, Imaging and Editing. The Third Module will focus on advance use of Office programs such as MS word, Powerpoint and PDF.
The Department is also working on developing AMS, the Academic Management System for the Institute of Medicine. The Academic Management System (AMS) at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), Kathmandu, serves as the centralized digital backbone for managing medical education, student records, and faculty data across its multiple constituent campuses.
The first use of AMS for student admission and document verification.
