On behalf of our faculty, staff, and students, I warmly welcome you to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), Tribhuvan University—a leader in medical education, research, and healthcare in Nepal.
Our Institute is one of the largest institutes under Tribhuvan University (TU). Established in 1972, it has been at the forefront of the education and training of generations of doctors and specialists in Nepal and abroad. Currently, this institute has one central department, 7 constituent campuses,14 affiliated campuses, and 5 hospitals. Among the constituent campuses, it has 1 medical, 1 Ayurvedic, and 5 Nursing campuses. Among 4 hospitals, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital is one of the largest referral hospitals in Nepal. Today, IOM offers 17 bachelor’s, 43 master’s, 1 MPhil, 5 MCh, 8 DM, 9 fellowships, and 3 PhD programs, making it a hub for the highest level of health professional training in the country.
IOM’s mission is rooted in academic excellence, innovation, and service. We combine rigorous education with hands-on clinical training, supported by cutting-edge facilities and a dedicated faculty. Our focus on research and innovation prioritizes evidence-based practices driven by locally relevant data to address Nepal’s pressing healthcare challenges.
As the Dean, I am committed to building on the legacy of excellence established by my predecessors. My vision is to enhance academic standards, expand research capabilities, improve student outcomes, and elevate the international visibility of IOM.
