About DME

The Medical Education Support Unit was established in the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 1986 for reorientation of Medical Education (ROME) to impart teacher's training to its faculty members in innovations in medical education.

With subsequent development, the Education Support Center evolved into the Medical Education Department (MED) in 1990, then became the National Centre for Health Professions Education (NCHPE) in 2009. At present, it has been officially changed to Department of Medical Education (DME) from August 28, 2024, and is under the Dean's office, Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj, Tribhuvan University.
